Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some common questions that you may be wondering before reaching out for therapy.
FAQ
Q: What can I expect from a first session?

A: In an initial session, it's a "get to know you" kind of conversation. Often times I'll ask "What do you want me to know about you and your experiences that brought you to seek therapy?" if you're not sure where to start. In conversation, I'll often ask questions for more understanding and summarize what I've learned to make sure we're on the same page. This first session is meant to build rapport and leave space for you to decide whether this is a good fit for you.
Q: What if my schedule changes from week to week? Is there flexibility to change days and times?

A: YES! I am flexible as I know life can "LIFE" some times and I want to make therapy easy to get to and work for you. If you ever have changes, often times it's easiest to send a text or email requesting a change. Sometimes, last minute schedule changes happen so feel free to see if there's different availability for the day. There is no guarantee that I can accommodate a last minute change. With that said, I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you do not cancel within that time I do charge a fee that is not covered by insurance.
Q: If I need to switch from in person to a telehealth session is that possible?

A: Yes that request can be accommodated. I appreciate advance notice but even a last minute change is fine with me.
Q: How long do I need to attend therapy in order to start feeling better?

A: Everyone is different when it comes to this process. First, it's important to remember that what you may be experiencing did not happen over night. Symptoms have developed over time so it's going to take time to find some relief from them.
Progress also depends on how willing you are to be consistent with your appointments, the work you do outside of sessions, and how willing you are to try things you haven't tried before. You have to be willing to face the hard stuff if it's there.

In my experience I'd say people have started to notice symptom reduction after 6-8 sessions with consistent attendance and implementing tools outside of session.
